Favorite Summer Activities

Summer is almost around the bend. In some places, it's already there. Summer is the time of being carefree and having fun. As a little girl, we would spend time at the lake swimming and fishing or go camping - many times both.

This summer I think I am going to plan some fun summer activities. Maybe a trip to the little beach up here for swimming and sand castle building. We will have some great hiking trips I think. Definitely another trip to the Bird Aviation Museum.
Maybe even a little fishing trip for my son - he's never been fishing. Should be a fun summer!

What are your favorite summer activities?

My Horoscope from Daily OM

I get a daily horoscope in my email from DailyOM and many of them are inspiring. However, this one struck a chord with me and I wanted to share it. If more people would just be happy in what they have, their whole lives would feel so much better and secure. I know that things can change and you can loose those things you have, believe me, I've been there. There was a time when we had to sell everything of value just so we could eat and pay rent, but still, I was grateful that I *had* a roof over my head and that I had food in my stomach. Anyway, read on, it's worth it!

Happy Friday!

**********************

You could feel a greater sense of security with your life circumstances today. Knowing that you are blessed might make you feel as if nothing else in life matters, not even the material abundance you have. If you can understand that your real wealth comes from your relationship with spirit and how that manifests itself in this world, then you may realize that there is nothing you will ever lack. Giving thanks to the universe for all that it has endowed you with today might help to strengthen this feeling of spiritual prosperity you have and could also give you the confidence you need to live your life with a sense of abundance rather than lack. You may find that this change in the way you view your life situation increases the value of everything you do and have.

Realizing that our connection to spirit is what makes us full helps us see that plenty abounds. Once we understand that there is more to our lives than simply our material means, we come to appreciate the worth of things that enrich our lives—our family, friends, talents, and, ultimately, our relationship with the universe. When we view our lives in this way, we see that we are truly fortunate and that every aspect of our existence is blessed with something that is much more precious than material means—love. By being grateful for everything you have today, you will understand that the true meaning of abundance is having a full heart and spirit.

Accident Waiting to Miss

I am feeling rather blessed this morning.

Very early this morning, I had to take my husband to his truck...he couldn't park it at the house because the driveway is muddy. It was only a 4 mile trip, no big deal right?

Apparently not.

I dropped him off at his truck and headed back home. Traffic *just* started picking up and the log trucks and dump trucks were already out. I glanced in my rear view mirror and noticed a dump truck pulling a pup about two cars behind me. I only made notice of it and made my way home. I was home in less than 5 minutes after dropping off my husband. As soon as I got home, I called my husband to tell him I got home okay and talk to him for a few minutes before the kids got up. He had just left and was asking if I had seen an accident on my way home. Nope.

Apparently someone was going northbound and just swerved over into the southbound lane and got smashed into the pup of a dump truck. My husband, being the wonderful man he is, stopped, got out and ran to help the person in the car. There was a little old lady, unconscious and bleeding from her chest, the car door jammed shut and the dashboard crushed her legs. He ran for his wench bar and pried the door open just as the ambulance and fire department was pulling up. (My hero!)

So why do I feel so blessed? Isn't it obvious? That could have been me she hit. I could have been severely injured or even killed. The accident happened seconds behind me. I feel very alive and gracious that I have escaped the accident. And even better... my husband was the one that pulled her out and saved her life!

Have a wonderful and blessed day!

Baby Names

Every mother struggles with finding the perfect name for her baby. Weeks, even months can go by before you settle on the perfect name, then you think... uh oh, what if my baby isn't a boy/girl?? Then you start over with the process until you find a name fitting the opposite sex of what you settled on before.

Now that a mother picks two names for her baby, and obviously gives one to her newborn, what happens to that other name? Does it get forgotten or do you keep it filed away for your next baby?

I found myself asking people I knew what their names were going to be if they were the opposite sex. Had I been a boy, I would have been Matthew. My son, should he have been a girl would have been Alicia Michelle. Since my son wasn't a girl, I kept the name Alicia filed away for my next baby, should it be a girl...I just love the name. My husband liked the name Lolo instead. *shrugs* I thought he was joking when he first mentioned it, but now I know he was serious. So we compromised on Alicia Michelle-Lolo. I know it's a mouth full, but I think we've already come up with a nickname... Little Lolo. Now stop throwing rotten tomatoes at me... that's just a nickname. My baby girl will officially go by Alicia when she grows up.
