It feels great to get your hands dirty and in the soil to plant some seeds. It feels great to see your efforts grow into a seedling and then into a plant. It feels even greater when you harvest and can enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Helping someone is the same way. You feel good about yourself when you offer seeds of encouragement to someone else. You feel good about yourself when you watch the progress someone makes while you help them. And you feel even better when they are successful at their task in which you helped them.
To help someone is the greatest gift one can give, even if it is as simple as baking some cookies for your neighbors, or picking up a friend from the airport, or donating a toy or other item to charity. The experience, though it may not be seen right away, can be a satisfyingly high. You will always know in your heart that to help another is a selfless act.
So let's get out there, roll up your sleeves, and get to digging and planting those little seeds of wonder.
